Witches, and goblins, and ghouls, Oh My!
Kick off the haunting season by taking the 17th annual Pensacola Historical Society Haunted House Walking and Trolley Tours Friday and Saturday, Oct. 19-20 and 26-27. This tradition began nearly two decades ago and has grown into a significant Halloween event. Feel the chills down your spine as you walk Pensacola's historical district featuring homes with centuries of history. Costumed guides reveal stories of murder and mayhem supposedly responsible for a multitude of ghost sightings throughout the years. The tour visits more than 50 sites around the Seville and North Hill historic districts. The candle-lit walking tours take off every 30 minutes from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., while trolley tours leave at 6:30, 7:30 and 8:30 p.m. each evening. Walking tours are $9 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under; trolley tours are $14 for adults and $7 for children 12 and under. Reservations can be made by calling the Pensacola Historical Society, (850) 433-1559.
Pensacola Little Theatre (PLT) will send you screaming with Stage Fright 2007, a Trilogy of Terror. Local actors, makeup artists and set designers transform the atmosphere of the lively stage theater into a harrowing hall of monstrous proportions involving a carnival of fear, voodoo and a freak show.
You're not afraid of clowns, are you? So happy, so colorful. PLT's 4-D Carnival of Fear turns these innocent icons of childhood into a terrifying nightmare of fright. Nothing is as it seems, and even the walls will reach out to try to prevent your escape.
In a Mississippi delta manor, the dark forces of voodoo are conspiring against you. When you fall under The Voodoo Curse, you have just one hope. Traverse the maze of secret passages and avoid the grasping undead, while solving the riddles that can save your soul from eternal torment.
Music, lights and illusions as you've never seen before. You"ll find it all at The Rave 'N Mad Freak Show. Spidora, Dismemberous and Little Egypt will rock the stage in an amazing techno-goth show giving a whole new meaning to shock and awe.
Stage Fright will horrify unwary visitors from October 26-31, beginning nightly at 7 p.m. Experience one haunt for $7 or all three for $15. Go to the head of the line with a FastPass for $25. Stage Fright is one of Pensacola 's largest annual holiday events. Each year thousands of area residents of all ages come to the Cultural Center for an event unrivaled on the central Gulf Coast. All proceeds benefit PLT's Treehouse theatrical, educational and outreach programming. Visit www.pensacolalittletheatre.com for more information.
